4 Prestigious Listowel Writers in Prison awards for PAF’s aspiring writers in HMP Magilligan

Listowel have formally announced that HMP Magilligan writers have continued to do well in the all-Ireland completion winning four out of a possible twelve ‘Writers in Prison’ awards.

The Listowel Writer’s Week competition for ‘Writing in Prisons’ enable PAF’s Creative Writing participants to practice the art of getting published and the  writers awards go a long way to helping them build a literary profile.
In February 2018 over 30 entries were submitted by PAF Writer in Residence Pamela Brown on behalf of our aspiring writers in HMP Magilligan.  Building on previous years’ successes, Pamela writes “Four prizes out of a possible twelve awards is brilliant. I’m really delighted for all involved.  I’m looking forward to letting the winners know.”
The four prize winners are as follows:
  • 1st in the Short Story Getting Started Section, A Good Man’s Darkness JL
  • 2nd in the Short Story Getting Started Section, Lost Family GMcC
  • 2nd in the Poetry Intermediate Section, Single Chance AF
